Dialectal Behavior Therapy

Innovative mental health and wellness services helping you to thrive

DBT is a widely-used evidence-based behavioral therapy that helps individuals develop specific, concrete skills that foster mindful behavior, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation.  Individuals who benefit from DBT may often experience patterns of challenging relationships, behaviors, and emotions. DBT provides easy to remember tools that can be used in day-to-day life very effectively.

DBT Therapy -although DBT is often offered in a group format, it can also be a very effective tool for individual therapy. In individual treatment, DBT can be offered solely by itself or be combined with other effective modalities such as EMDR, IFS and ACT to augment your progress in therapy. Several of our therapists are trained or have background in DBT and can offer this as part of you individual treatment.

DBT Groups -DBT groups offer a supportive and rich environment for learning and implementing DBT skills quickly and practicing them in a supportive environment.  Our DBT groups are facilitated by our licensed therapists who provide DBT concept learning activities as well as experiential group activities to solidify DBT skill building to easily translate to real-life situations.

The StonyCreek Care Continuum:
Helping you move from Recovery to Empowerment

Therapy, Medication Management, and TMS

Our Boulders: Boulders represent barriers that prevent us from living a healthy day-to-day life and from moving toward the values and goals we care about the most. These barriers can take the form of significant trauma and mental health symptoms that require the assistance of skilled professionals and specific therapeutic techniques in order to heal. Our providers are licensed and trained extensively in psychotherapeutic methods, including an evidence-based and highly effective treatment modality, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). We’ve been providing successful mental health treatment for our surrounding community since StonyCreek’s inception, and we are here to continue this vital work.

Coaching

Our Stones and Pebbles: Stones and pebbles represent smaller barriers and course changes that can slow down our forward momentum. In observing our clients’ journeys, as well as our own, we have learned that mental health treatment is not the end of the story when it comes to healing, hope and positive growth. Today, we find that many people are seeking more than just symptom reduction. In addition to feeling better, many of us are looking for real change, growth, and concrete solutions for getting our rivers flowing! This stage of care is best served through coaching. Coaching is a highly effective alternative to traditional therapy. It can be provided anywhere and is not limited by state or national license. Coaching is succinct, active and very effective in relieving stress, anxiety, burnout and depression which can block us from reaching our greatest potential. Coaching can also provide concrete steps for empowered action toward your goals with less time invested than traditional therapy.

We offer services at four locations across Maine and Southern New Hampshire.
